Show Just Northpass Hosted events

This is a resource for locals and friends of Northpass to know of events nearby. All East Kingdom events can be found here but this page is a result of trying to answer the question "What is close to us?" The EK site allows us to filter by region but we are at the intersection of the of the regions. Please share to the webminister if you have any suggestions for events that he may have missed.

Dancing Fox XX (Shire of Nordenhalle hosted)

This nearby donations only dancing event is being held on February 3rd in Kingston by our good friends in Nordenhalle. The food is by the incomparable Brigitte Flamin (who has prepared several of the great Barleycorn Feasts in recent years.) For more details please select here

K&Q A&S and Bardic Championship (Østgarðr hosted)

The Provence is hosting the Crown and Their Championships within our fair lands (more specifically in Mt. Kisko.) kick back and relax. The planned date is February 10th. Detail is available here.

Bear's Tavern

This event has been held for as long as we can remember and is a happy chance to kick back and relax. One unusual note for this year is that we will be hosting the Østgarðr Thrown Weapons competition. The planned date is March 2nd through the 4th. Detail is available here.

Hrim Schola (Dragonship Haven hosted)

This event has traveled through several groups and has always been a schola event (one with classes and a focus on learning) that is great fun and worthy learning. This year it will be held at Dragonship Haven to our east. The planned date is March 17th. Detail is available here.

Balfar's Challenge (Dragonship Haven hosted)

This premier event for archery is a "must do" for many and is also the first (nearby) springtime event for Thrown Weapons and Fencing. This gathering will occur on April 21th. Detail is available here.

Lion's Awaken (Lions End hosted)

This event is being held on April 21st by our sister Canton down to our south in Locust Valley. "Similar to the Lion's in Spring event last year, we will be having open format schola classes." For more details please select here.

Brew U

This event was once a annual Northpass tradition but has been lost to us for over a decade. We welcome the Brewers guild as they partner with us to present the newest instance of Northpass hosting Brew U. Dates are changed to be from April 13th through the 15th . More detail available here with the local website here.

Barony Beyond the Mountain Investiture (BBM hosted)

This nearby event is being held nearby on May 19th to our east and will be a celebration of the changeover in the Barony. As we get closer we may wish to put together a visit as a group from Northpass. (Details to be worked out between then and now and shall be posted here once set.) For more details please select here.

Lion's End Demo (Lions End hosted)

This event is being held on June 2nd by our sister Canton down to our south in Farmingdale. This is NOT an SCA event but instead is a demo. A demo is a chance for the SCA to share what we do to a wider population. As we are presenters we should contact the Event Steward (in this case Brekke Franksdottir...see event detail for contact) so we can allow her to effectively share what we are and do. For more details please select here

Blood and Axes II

This (unexpectedly) now annual event will be a new instance of last year`s successful one. "Blood and Axes II" will be held July 6th -July 8th and will offer thrown weapons, archery, youth combat, fencing, Heavy list... Last year`s event had very successful Thrown Weapons and Youth Combat but this year we expect all of the activities to be even stronger! Come for Saturday or camp for the weekend. More details should be available soon.

The Feast of John Barleycorn

And lastly planning has already started for our flag post event...The Feast of John Barleycorn held next year from September 7th through the 9th. We have hosted this event for years beyond count From past years we can expect to see Thrown Weapons, Archery, heavy Armored combat, Fencing, Youth combat, Dancing, Brewing and A&S contests, A&S display, Period table and lawn games, many varied classes, and a grand feast with a Masque in the honor of our patron, Sir John Barleycorn. We are also plotting to host the Metalsmith guild and their Metalsmith Symposium. Additionally we have been asked to host the Fencing, Archery, and Youth Combat Championships for the Provence. Details are light so far but will be posted when available. The EK Website announcement is here. The Northpass local (and much more informative) one is here.

Goat's Tavern III

It has been with great joy that we have enjoyed the first two instances of Goat`s Tavern. We are hoping that "third time is a charm" and it will be the best of the lot. There is not yet a theme to share... but (just run with it) there must be youth combat. Currently planned for October 20-21. Details will be shared when available.
