The Feast of Sir John Barleycorn - The Arts and Sciences

This year there are many ways we are celebrating the arts! Holding with recent tradition, Barleycorn will have a number of A&S opportunities to enjoy this year. The John Barleycorn Memorial Brewing Competition offers any brewer the chance to enter their creations, and those who are enthusiasts about this art form can offer to help judge. New this year the East Kingdom Brewers Guild is offering a consultation table- learn more about the guild, get feedback, and get tips about starting or enhancing your period brews. Also new, the Metalsmith Symposium is being held at Barleycorn- take a class or watch demonstrations provided by knowledgeable artisans. For those willing to share their creations, consider displaying at the A&S display- this year’s theme is that of New Beginnings, but any item may be shared. During feast, the tradition of a Masque has returned! I wonder what humorous situation John will find himself in this year… Feast itself is filled with research-inspired and period foods to delight the taste buds. After feast enjoy the fine art of dancing at the ball filled with dances from our period and side tables set with period games. Finally, journey to the bonfire to share in the bardic arts with those gentles sharing story, prose, and song.
